OPERATION PHOENIX
Long before 1993 and Operation Gothic Serpent, also known as Operation Irene, Somalia has been in civil war and political unrest. Plagued by warring factions and rebel leaders vying for control of this region, the citizens have been ruled through fear, by the use of torture, starvation, and genocide. The United Nations has appointed the US Coalition Forces to execute peacekeeping missions through the use of humanitarian aid, and low visibility "snatch and grabs" of key rebel leaders, in an effort to stabalize and liberate the region.
Through the joint efforts of the US Special Operations Command and the 75th Ranger Battalion, a mission was ordered known as OPERATION PHOENIX.
